Robot vacuum cleaners are cool and all, but do you know what’s even better? A robot that vacuums and mops! Shark has created such a hybrid robot called the AV2001WD AI VACMOP, which comes with an impressive range of features, including on-demand cleaning and active obstacle avoidance.
Read our review of the Shark AV2001WD AI to see whether it’s the right choice for your bare floors at home.

30% More Suction Power
Compared to older Shark robot vacuum models, the AV2001WD delivers up to 30% more suction power on UltraClean Mode. With this much power, the AV2001WD is more than capable of cleaning low- to medium-pile carpeting in just a few passes.
However, outstanding suction power isn’t the only thing this robot has going for it.
Sonic Mopping Action
As we said earlier in this guide, the AV2001WD is a hybrid robot. While it vacuums bare floors, it also scrubs them clean with an oscillating microfiber mop attachment.
The AV2001WD gently vibrates side to side while producing up to 100 scrubs per minute. Unlike traditional mop-only and hybrid bots, the AV2001WD tackles stubborn, caked-on stains on bare floors like it’s nobody’s business.

LiDAR Mapping System
Similar to the Shark AV2501AE, this hybrid robot vacuum utilizes LiDAR navigation to create a decently accurate layout of your home.
By downloading the SharkClean app on your smartphone, users will gain access to the map, allowing them to define specific areas of their homes, create virtual no-go barriers, and instruct the robot where to clean and when. It may take the AV2001WD several passes in your home before completing the map, per customer reports.
Programmable No-Mop Zones
To utilize the vacuum-and-mop system of the AV2001WD as best as possible, users will have to open the SharkClean app on their smartphones and predefine the location of carpeting.
This will instruct the robot to stifle water flow when transitioning from moppable areas (bare floors) and carpets. While it’s a minor inconvenience, this system is a lot more trustworthy than relying on your robot to determine where it can and cannot mop on its own.

AI-Driven Obstacle Avoidance
One thing that separates the AV2001WD from many modern-day hybrids is the addition of an AI-guided laser. This laser constantly scans the robot’s surroundings to determine the location of obstacles.
When an obstacle as small as four inches high is in the AV2001WD’s trajectory, the robot will automatically turn to avoid it rather than bump into it.
Self-Cleaning Brush Roll
On the belly of the AV2001WD, you’ll discover a bristle-less brush roll. Instead, the brush roll is studded with multiple silicone fins, which gently massage your floors while also loosening and pulling in debris.
Best of all, the brush roll is self-cleaning, meaning that strands of hair and fur won’t get tangled on the brush roll and reduce the AV2001WD’s performance.
