While relatively new to the robot vacuum scene, Shark has released top-quality models that give the market leaders a run for their money. For instance, the Shark AV1010AE IQ—a highly intelligent robot vacuum that sucks away dirt, dust, and pet hair like a boss.
Incredible Cleaning Power
So, how well does the AV1010AE vacuum? According to customers, it does a great job removing more than just surface debris. While the brush roll does its work, the AV10101AE’s motor creates a powerful vortex that draws loosened all loosened debris in.
While no technical ratings for this robot’s suction power are available, Shark claims that it delivers a lot more suction power than its predecessor, the RV700 series.
Multi-Surface Brush Roll
The AV1010AE loosens dirt using two brushes. The main multi-surface brush roll is studded with two rows of soft bristles that loosen embedded dirt and strands of fur from carpeting.
When the robot transitions to bare floors, the bristles do an excellent job of lifting dirt from between floorboards and tiles, leaving almost nothing in its wake.
The second brush system is the dual extra-wide side brush that draws in loose floor particles from around furniture legs and baseboards. When it comes to edge-to-edge cleaning, the side brushes definitely come in handy and without scattering too much debris.
IQ Navigation + Home Mapping
Unlike simplistic robots that travel blindly around your home, the AV1010AE uses a laser sensor to create a virtual layout of your home. It’ll then use this map as a reference for how to navigate your home and avoid obstacles.
IQ Navigation creates a row-by-row vacuuming route to maximize cleaning efficiency with every cycle.

Customizable Cleaning Functions
Using the SharkClean smartphone app, you’ll gain access to the digital floorplan, which will allow you to create virtual barriers, instruct the robot to focus on certain rooms or areas, and program cleaning schedules so it doesn’t disturb you when you’re at home.
Alternatively, you can sync the AV1010AE to an Alexa device and send simple voice commands to your robot from anywhere in your home.
60-Minute Runtime + Recharge and Resume
At most, you can squeeze about an hour of runtime per fully charged battery, which, by modern robot vacuum standards, isn’t all that great. Thankfully, you don’t have to worry about fetching your robot from underneath furniture when its battery is depleted since it will make a beeline for its charging dock.
After refueling, the AV1010AE will then continue its cleaning where it stopped prior to recharging.

XL Self-Empty Base
The charging dock also serves as a vacuum cleaner for the AV1010AE. The self-empty base removes all the debris from the robot’s dustbin, leaving it completely empty and ready for the next round. According to Shark, the XL self-empty base can store up to 45 days’ worth of debris at a time.
