AIRCARE MA0800 Digital Whole-House Evaporative Humidifier Review

If it’s the season for allergies, colds, or the flu investing in a high-quality humidifier will help tremendously. It’s common knowledge that humidifiers increase moisture in the air for dry skin and other ailments that arise when the air is dry. However, some models have the added benefit of keeping the air in your environment cleaner with filtration. | AIRCARE MA0800 Evaporative Humidifier Review

Combat Must and Mold

After a few weeks of use, it’s easy to spot the difference between a low-grade humidifier to a quality one. Cheaper or basic models begin to develop a musty smell and mold within a month of using. While regular cleaning and maintenance are still required, higher quality humidifiers need less frequent attention.

The Aircare Mini-Console Evaporative Humidifier

This is a good model as compared to other digital humidifiers in the middle price-range with similar features. Aircare claims that this model (the MA0800) keeps humidity levels between 30% and 50%. According to the company and their research, this is the healthiest range of humidity needed in an environment to keep airborne allergens and viruses at bay.

Aircare markets the Mini-Console Evaporative Humidifier with the ability to work effectively for a 2,600 sq. ft. room and to work for 36 hours before running out of the water. It is their smallest model, holding only 2.5 gallons of water at one time. Their unique humidifiers create what Aircare calls “invisible moisture” by using a saturated wick. This prevents the whitish residue that some other brands leave behind.

The digital model has an auto humidistat setting that keeps the air at a preset automatic level of humidity. You can also set it at a specific level to your liking. It comes with three fan speeds, including a nighttime mode that Aircare claims is a quieter setting that’s usable while sleeping. Aircare also says that their models all come with automatic shut-off features for safety and easy-fill water bottles.

Tried and True Features

Common positive feedback heard from users of the Mini-Console Humidifier includes the fact that digital humidifiers are easier to use, and it does its main job well. Almost everyone who has used this model reports that it keeps their large rooms or offices at their desired humidity.

The auto shut-off feature does work well, and the filter does not need to be changed as frequently as other models. Aircare humidifiers are also compatible with Bacteriostat, which is an additive that prevents mold and mildew buildup for less frequent cleaning.

Busted Claims

The biggest disappointment that users have with the Aircare Mini-Console is that it does not work for even half of the square footage that it claims to. The maximum square footage that it will humidify is reported to be around 900 sq. ft. It would take at least three of these humidifiers to work effectively throughout a space as large as the 2,600 sq. ft. that Aircare says the Mini-Console can handle.

Another big claim that reviewers have challenged is the quiet mode setting for nighttime. Many buyers report that they cannot even be in the same room with the humidifier when the fan is set to high. This is an important concern when you need to put it somewhere social, like a sitting room or where silence is golden: a nursery.

One last problem, though minor in comparison, is that it is not as easy to refill the water bottle as Aircare markets. The reservoir is not clear and there is no mark or fill line to show when the maximum water level is reached. Several buyers complain that they always end up overfilling it and making a mess.

AIRCARE MA0800: Is it the Best Option For the Price?

As far as effectiveness goes, though not for as big of a space as stated, the Aircare MA0800 does keep the humidity in your environment at an optimal level. While the square footage is forgivable, this model is not an option for someone who needs a quiet model. If louder-than-average white noise is okay for you, this humidifier does its job well.
