Shark HZ2002 Vertex Corded DuoClean PowerFins Stick Vacuum Review

Anyone who’s studied stick vacs for a while will know that the Shark HZ2002 Vertex is unlike many others. First of all, it’s a corded stick vacuum, which can inhibit maneuverability somewhat, but the tradeoff is maximum, uninterrupted power per cleaning session. Read our review of the Shark HZ2002 down below to see whether this corded stick vacuum is the right tool for you.

5.7-Amp, 680W Motor

How powerful is the HZ2002? Judging from how beefy the motor is (5.7 amps at 680W), it’s pretty fair to say that the HZ2002 is one of the heaviest-duty stick vacuums on the market. The motor drives the brush roll with bristles to reach deep into carpet fibers and extract nearly all tiny, medium, and small particles in one quick sweep.

30-Foot Power Cord

The HZ2002’s power cord measures 30 feet in length, which provides a generous range of movement from every wall outlet. The benefit of choosing a corded, lightweight model like the HZ2002 is that you can clean high-up surfaces on max power without worrying about limited runtimes. Uninterrupted cleaning means finishing your chores more quickly!

DuoClean PowerFins

But here’s where things get really interesting. The HZ2002 doesn’t come with a standard floorhead and basic brush roll. It features a DuoClean PowerFins brush roll that consists of a roll of stiff bristles for carpeting and a soft-bristled roll for bare floors. Since DuoClean can clean bare and carpeted floors, you won’t have to manually adjust the brush roll height every time you transition from one surface to the next.

The PowerFin brush roll is the softer of the two, which is great for cleaning bare floors like floorboards, vinyl, and marble tiles. It maintains constant contact with the ground, ensuring that it draws in most if not all debris with each pass.

Self-Cleaning

One of the greatest things about Shark vacuum cleaners is their self-cleaning brush rolls. The HZ2002 features such a system that prevents clumps of hair from tangling around the bristles, which can inhibit cleaning performance and, in extreme cases, lead to burnout.

The HZ2002’s self-cleaning brush roll pulls in pet and human hair before sending them directly into the vacuum inlet. On the rare occasion that hair does tangle on the brush roll, you can remove it by using a pair of scissors.

2-in-1 Convertible

Like any stick vacuum worth looking at, the HZ2002 is a convertible unit that can turn into a handheld vacuum cleaner in the blink of an eye. Simply detach the long extension wand and insert any of the spot-cleaning tools included in the box.

Shark HZ2002 Vertex Stick Vacuum

The HZ2002 comes with the standard cleaning tools—a dusting brush and crevice tool—but what’s great is that it has a motorized pet power brush with self-cleaning capabilities. If your pets shed like crazy on upholstery, the pet power brush will become your go-to tool to remove them once and for all.

Verdict: Should I Get the Shark HZ2002 Vertex Stick Vacuum?

There are several reasons why you might fall in love with the Shark HZ2002 Vertex Stick Vacuum, but to put it simply, it’s a corded stick vac that works wonders at cleaning floors, ceilings, and everything in between. Plus, its self-cleaning capabilities combined with multi-surface cleaning make it a definite winner if you live with messy pets and children!
