The Honeywell HPA100 is a unique-looking air purifier equipped with the best filters. Despite its tiny profile, the HPA100 is a completely reliable air purifier for medium-sized rooms by circulating and filtering the air several times per hour.
Read our full review of the HPA100 below to see whether this compact air purifier belongs in your bedroom.
155-square-foot Coverage
The HPA100 has a maximum purifying reach of 155 square feet. Due to its tiny motor and housing, this Honeywell air purifier probably won’t work well in kitchens and living rooms, but for single rooms (bedrooms, office units), it should cover all four corners effortlessly. Keep this unit in confined spaces for optimal cleaning performance.
360° Air Intake
The inner fan inside of the unique oval housing of the HPA100 allows it to draw in air from every direction.
The greatest benefit of such a design is that users won’t need to worry about finding the “ideal” placement spot, although we recommend keeping it away from walls to maintain maximum airflow both in and out. Plus, it sits on comfortably top of desks and tables without leaving a large footprint.
2-stage Filtration
The HPA100 is equipped with a two-level filtration system, starting off with a Genuine A+ pre-filter and activated carbon filter that traps large particles and odor molecules. This filter will need to be replaced every three months to maintain optimal cleaning performance.
The second and final stage is a True HEPA Filter with an effectiveness rating of 99.97% at trapping particles of 0.3 microns and larger. If you suffer from season or pet allergies, then the magnificent purifying power of True HEPA Filters is what you’re looking for.
CADR and ACH
The CADR ratings of an air purifier should give you a pretty good idea of how effective the air purifier is at removing dust, pollen, and smoke. The HPA’s CADR ratings for these three categories respectively are 106, 100, and 100 CFM. This isn’t the highest CADR ratings you’ll find, even in similarly sized air purifiers, but in confined spaces, the HPA100 works like an absolute beast.
As for the ACH rating, the HPA100 can change the air of a room up to five times per hour on its highest of four cleaning modes (allergen, everyday, germ, and Turbo. This means approximately every 12 minutes, the HPA100 will have fully filters and recirculated the air in a 155-square-foot room.

Noise Output
As you might expect, the tiny housing, tiny motor, and tiny fan of the HPA100 do not produce a ton of noise. On sleep mode, or its lowest fan setting, this air purifier generates a gentle 23-decibel buzz while slowly but surely cleaning the air of impurities. Even on its Turbo mode, the fan’s sounds are more likely going to be drowned out by ambient household noises.
Built-in Timer
This Honeywell air purifier isn’t a feature-packed product built with smartphone connectivity or air quality sensors. However, it does come with one of the most important features of all: a built-in timer.
The timer can be configured to automatically kill the motor after 2, 4, or 8 hours of continuous cleaning. Even though this product is Energy Star certified, you should still make use of this timer function whenever possible.
Light Dimmer
When it comes time to hit the hay, you won’t need to worry about this Honeywell air purifier keeping you up with bright LEDs. The control panel lets you turn down or shut the lights off completely for disturb-free sleep while the soft 23-decibel hum lulls you to sleep. The three light options are bright, dim, and off.
LED Filter Indicators
We’re happy to report that the HPA100, despite its lack of convenience-adding features, has filter indicators installed for the pre-filter and True HEPA filter separately. The indicator will turn on when the either of the filters become clogged and needs to be replaced.
On average, the Genuin A+ filter lasts up to 3 months, and the True HEPA Filter can last up to 12 months with regular use, but it’s nice that the filter indicator is there to remind us of this easily forgotten task.
Verdict: Should I Get the Honeywell HPA100?
Overall, the Honeywell HPA100 is a solid air purifier designed for tiny spaces. It maintains the good Honeywell name by being not only energy-efficient but also an excellent-performing device thanks to its 3-stage filtration including a True HEPA Filter. It’s missing some convenience-adding features, but the timer function should really help keep things simple.
