Today, we’re comparing four of Snow Joe’s top-rated models—the SJ623E, the SJ625E, the SJ627E, and the 24V-X2-SB18. First up, we have the Snow Joe SJ623E—a single-stage snow thrower that works marvelously at picking up, chewing, and spitting out fluffy snow. As a single-stage device, it relies entirely on the speed of its auger to crush snow and ice and toss it up to 25 feet onto your neighbor’s yard.

As the simplest snow thrower of the Snow Joe bunch in this comparison guide, the SJ263E doesn’t come with a bunch of high-tech features. What it does come with is a 15-amp motor that’s capable of driving the augers to crunch 720 pounds of snow every minute. Also, you can redirect chomped-up snow up to 180 degrees.

Something else you should understand about the SJ263E, as well as all other Snow Joe snow throwers here, is that it’s an electric model. You need to connect it using an extension cord (sold separately) to travel all four corners of your property.

The benefit of electric snow throwers is that they require very little maintenance, and they can start up with a quick press of a button.

Next up, we have the larger yet slightly weaker Snow Joe SJ625E. Although it sports a 15-amp motor, similar to that of the SJ263E, it has a maximum throw distance of only around 20 feet. However, it can demolish snow mounds of up to 12 inches deep and 21 inches wide at a rate of 800 pounds per second. This is the perfect snow blower for those that live in towns that measure snow in feet, not inches.

This 34.6-pound electric, single-stage snow thrower shares a lot of the same specs as the SJ362E. For instance, it comes with a single-button-press starter and a 180° chute. However, it also comes with 3-watt LED headlamps that make it easier to toss snow onto your neighbor’s yard in the nighttime.

Something else you should know about this snow thrower is that 2 of the 4-bladed steel auger have a rubber coating, which makes it incredibly durable when crushing snow mounds. As for the remaining blades, they demolish ice like it’s nobody’s business.

Again, we have a single-stage snow thrower for you to consider. The SJ627E is almost the same exact model as the previous ones, except for the fact that it’s several times more powerful. This time, it has a steel auger with rubberized tips that make it incredibly useful when demolishing snow mounds and ice chunks.

Not only can it handle snow and ice incredibly well, but it can tackle 13 x 22-inch mounds in a jiffy. And if that’s not enough, consider the 25-ton-per-hour snow-throwing rate, which can make it clear entire driveways and long sidewalks in a matter of minutes.

There are two features in the SJ627E that you won’t find in the previous two models. For starters, it comes with a safety switch on the handle, which lets you kill the motor and stop the auger in its place during emergencies. Secondly, the LED lamps, which are available in the SJ265E, are placed on the intake to provide better vision at night.

The SJ627E isn’t the most feature-packed electric snow thrower out there (for that, you’ll have to consider the next model), but it does an excellent job at crushing tall snow mounds and large chunks of ice.

Snow Joe 24V-X2-SB18 48-Volt iON+ Cordless Snow Blower

Last up, we have the Snow Joe 24V-X2-SB18, which runs on a 48V battery. So, the major difference between this Snow Joe and the previous Snow Joes is that this one has a finite runtime since it draws power from a portable power source. The great news is that a fully charged battery pack, which consists of two 4-Ah batteries, can supply around 40 minutes of snow-throwing at a time.

Will that be enough time? Considering the 1200W brushless motor’s 14-ton-per-hour snow-throwing rate, it should definitely make clearing driveways of ice and snow look easy. Despite only being a single-stage unit, the single-auger action and 180° direction chute make easy work of tossing snow up to 20 feet away in a fine mist.
