The J-2000 comes with a 1300-Watt solid brass heating element. This means that the water will heat-up to the appropriate steaming temperature within 10 minutes of pushing the ‘start’ button and to a ‘stand-by’, just below-boiling temperature, within 2 minutes.
A few words about safety are in turn, however. Be aware that the water will hot up to beyond boiling temperature, so avoid touching the base, pipe and top as they may become extremely hot. It should be noted that pets or small children should not be allowed around the machine when it’s on.
J-4000
This model boasts a more powerful, 1500-Watt Incoloy heating element. However, the water will heat-up to full steaming power within 15 minutes of pushing the ‘start’ button. The same warning applies to the J-4000 as well.
When heated-up to the maximum, please note that some components will be very hot. So avoid touching them or allowing your pets or kids getting near the machine when it is working.

The unit is also fitted with an auto-turn-off should the tank get empty. This is to avoid overheating.
Verdict: Both units are fitted with water tanks that are larger than the average on the steamer market. At over 1-gallon, the water tanks allow for a running time up to 2 hours before they need to be refilled. Both units are also fitted with extra overheating protection via an ‘auto-turn-off’ function when the tanks are dry.
