A vacuum cleaner that’s powerful and quiet? That’s almost an unheard of feat, especially when it comes to central vacuum units. However, Imperium manages to combine incredible suction power in a quiet, compact package with its CV300 model, and it does so without pricing it beyond the reach of middle-class consumers thanks to the use of a thru-flow motor.
Imperium only used rust-proof materials to make the CV300 central vacuum, and they provide a large-capacity filter bag to get you started. You’ll appreciate the ease of installation and the unit’s light weight that lets virtually anyone set it up solo. You can place the exhaust on either side of the central vac, and there is even a direct-connect utility port.
An Ametek-Lamb Motor
At the heart of the Imperium CV300 Central Vacuum Power Unit, there is a 15-amp Ametek-Lamb thru-flow motor. Chosen for its low cost and capable performance, the motor boasts 740 airwatts of power.
The two-stage motor is also quiet, producing a mere 58 decibels of sound. It’s also backed by a 10-year warranty, and since it’s an Ametek-Lamb brand, you know it’s going to last for quite some time.
A High Suction Rate
By design, central vacuums have a stronger suction pull than mobile vacuum cleaners, and the Imperium CV300 is no exception.
With a suction left of 138 cubic feet per minute, the vacuum can pick up heavy and large debris with no problem. You only need one wall outlet per 700 square feet, and almost any central vacuum hose can fit the unit.
A 6.25-Gallon Capacity
This central vac unit uses bags, and it comes with one micro-lined filter bag. The bag can hold a whopping 6.25 gallons worth of dirt, dust and debris, and a quick lift of the lid and push into the bag port makes changing a bag a 1 to 2-minute task.
While the micro-lined bag does an excellent job at reducing odors, there are Maxflow HEPA bags you can purchase if there are airborne allergens you need to tackle.
A Small Size
Even though the CV300 has a 6.25-gallon capacity, the unit itself is fairly small compared to other central vacuums, and we consider this a positive feature. The central vac measures 25 3/4 inches tall and 12 7/8 inches in diameter, and it weighs a mere 24.3 pounds.
These measurements mean the unit is easy enough for one person to move and install. Therefore, you don’t have to spend money to hire a professional or rely on flaky friends to get the vacuum up and running.
A Solid Design
The USA-manufactured central vacuum can cover up to 7,500 square feet of living space. The entire canister is made of galvannealed steel through and through. Galvannealed steel is constructed by galvanizing steel after it’s annealed, which makes the steel extra-durable and more resistant to corrosion and rust.
A Quick Install
The CV300 is so easy to install, even the novice DIYer can get it done in less than a day. This central vacuum unit comes with the mounting hardware necessary for installation, including a wall plate. The unit itself will need a 1-foot clearance radius for heat ventilation. You can run tubing through cold-air returns and closets. Imperium sells kits for just that purpose.
A Versatile Port System
Imperium placed the exhaust on the side instead of the back, but you don’t need to run an exhaust to the exterior of your house (although you do have that option). The input can be positioned on the right or the left of the unit.
There is also a utility inlet on the canister, which allows you to plug a vacuum hose to the unit itself to vacuum the basement or wherever the unit is installed.

A Dependable Vacuum With Strong Suction
One of the Imperium CV300’s main selling points is its ultra-quiet thru-flow motor. While it’s not a bypass model, it is made by Ametek-Lamb – a manufacturer with a reputation for quality.
As long as you don’t try to overfill the filter bag, clogs and overheating won’t be a problem.
Speaking of the filter bag, a bag could be a downside for some people. Since the filtration is integrated into the bag, there are no filters with which to contend, and cleaning the canister is simply a matter of removing the old bag and popping in a new one. Plus, the bags are rather large, capacity wise.
We also like that Imperium’s choice of galvannealed steel, which means you won’t see rust forming on the canister years down the road. The direct-connect utility inlet is definitely convenient.
Although neither a hose nor vacuuming attachments are provided with the unit, the ports are universal, so you can buy any hose you want. The CV300 central vacuum is affordable, powerful, and long-lasting. You won’t be disappointed.
