Proscenic 811GB vs 790T: Robot Vacuum Comparison

Thankfully, the robotics industry has not reached Terminator proportions yet. Instead of world-conquering robots, they are making products that only aim to free-up our time. We have gladly welcomed this type of progress in one area of our everyday lives: home vacuum cleaning.

Who wants to vacuum after a long and hard day at work, or during the weekends?

Well, robotic vacuum cleaners can help. With very little supervision on your part, they go about sweeping, mopping and vacuuming all hard floor surfaces in your home. You can rest easy that your home will be kept clean, leaving you free to read a book or a watch a movie with loved ones.

Two models, in particular, stand out with a ton of features and pleasing design: the Proscenic 811Gb and Proscenic 790T.

Proscenic 790T

Design

811GB
The 811GB model has a compact and very pleasing composition. The top is painted shiny sky-blue, so you will never miss to see it. The robot is also small enough to go into tight spaces such as under beds, desks and in and around toilet bowls and sinks. It is driven by two serrated rubber wheels and one at the front for steering.

The machine has two rotating brushes which direct the junk, dirt, and dust towards the suction inlet at the center-bottom of the device. It also comes with an electronically controlled water tank, leaving you with the freedom to decide how much water you want it to dispense while cleaning.

790T
The Proscenic [Upgraded Version] 790T robotic vacuum doesn’t trot too far behind in design matters. With gold-colored sides and a sleek black top, it attracts the eyes and looks like a great addition to any modern home. With a diameter of fewer than 13 inches and a height of 3.5 inches, the robot can squeeze into tight and hard to reach spaces with ease. It has excellent mobility due to two well-designed wheels. Similar to the 811Gb, two brushes help the junk get directed to the suction inlet.

Verdict: The models soothe the eyes without losing their practicability. Both robots work wonders in tight spaces and around obstacles and have efficient filtration systems. The 811Gb holds a slight advantage by having an electronically controlled water-dispensing, but the 790T has a highly efficient double-filtration set-up.

Smart Orientation

811GB
This machine is equipped with a strip with infrared sensors at its front. This allows it to avoid and navigate around obstacles even at night when there is no light. Additional magnetic boundary markers will enable you to limit the movement of the robot as those are treated as normal obstacles. There is also an anti-drop sensor at the bottom, for stairs and sudden drops. It must be noted, however, that the vacuum cleaner can navigate slopes up to 25 degrees.

790T
This model comes with an upgraded triple-anti-collision system. Its ultrasonic radar detections and HSIR sensor help it identify and work around obstacles with ease at all times and in all conditions. Another anti-drop sensor is installed at the bottom of the machine to help it identify and avoid drops such as stairs or steps. Because of this innovative way of orientation, the machine is able to cross over 0.4 tall obstacles and slopes under 25 degrees.

Verdict: Proscenic has occupied the high-end of the market with these two models. The 811Gb boasts a technologically advanced sensor system allowing it to work in darkness. The 790T, on the other hand, comes with an extra orientation ‘sense’ via an ultrasonic radar detection, making it flawlessly adequate at dealing with all kinds of obstacles.

Cleaning modes and control

811GB
The bot provides a 3-in-1 service: mopping, sweeping and vacuuming. It can do this in four basic ways, depending on your requirements: auto, area, edge, and schedule. You can select the appropriate mode from the mobile app – which is available for Android as well as iOS – remote control or the buttons on the bot itself. With the ‘edge’ mode, it focuses on cleaning along walls and near corners. With area, it focuses on a partial area; while on auto, it goes for the entire area according to a specific pre-set schedule.

790T
The 790T mops, sweeps, and cleans simultaneously. It can be controlled in a number of ways: via the mobile app, a remote control, self-buttons or Alexa. It has three modes of cleaning: auto, edge, and area. In an ‘area’ mode, the machine goes from outwards to the center of a particular region. When set to ‘edge’ it only focuses on cleaning the immediate area along walls and corners. And finally, in the auto mode, it cleans logically according to a schedule or manual command.

Verdict: Both machines offer a breath of control options. You can access them in four basic ways: manually or via a mobile app, remote control and Alexa. You can also choose among four modes of cleaning depending on your current domestic needs.

Power, filtration system, and noise pollution

8811GB
You can be sure that you will never see the Proscenic 811Gb robot vacuum procrastinating anywhere due to lack of battery juice. It ‘senses’ when its battery is low and returns to its charging station before resuming where it had left off. Unfortunately, it sometimes wanders before it finds its way home.

It is equipped with a powerful motor which ensures a suction power of 1200Pa – above the average on the market. This also gives it a running time of around 140 minutes before a trip back to the docking station. And it stays relatively quiet all the while.

Proscenic 790T

Proscenic 790T

790T
Here is when things start to branch out. The 790T is a bit more powerful at 1500Pa, but it has a running time of a half-an-hour less than the 811Gb. This, however, is not a problem as it always finds its way back to the docking station, thanks to its effective sensor-orientation. Because of its powerful suction and unique v-type design, it is able to dislodge and pick up small to medium-sized particles from carpets and hard-floor surfaces.

Verdict: Both models are able to dislodge and pick up debris that would probably cause other cleaners problems. The 790T is the more powerful one of the two, at 1500pA, but the 811Gb brags a running time of around half-an-hour more. Both robots fall on the right side of the noise-level scale, but you would probably still not want to use them while watching TV or sleeping.
