McCulloch MC1375 vs Wagner 0282014: Steam Cleaner Comparison

You can use a steam cleaner to deep clean pretty much everything, but most of all, it takes very little to keep everything at home looking fresh and new. Time-saving and general effectiveness of cleaning are the main reasons why you should add this must-have tool to your cleaning arsenal.

McCulloch MC1375 vs Wagner 0282014: Steam Cleaner Comparison

Making greasy ovens and stovetops, garden tiles, bathroom sinks, and aged grout, BBQ grills new again is a piece of cake for a high-quality steam cleaner. And how exactly do we differentiate between a good and bad steam cleaner? Well, we need to look for good reviews, proven results, and energy efficiency.

Two models, in particular, have all of that: the Wagner 915 and the McCulloch MC1375. Let’s take a look at how they fare against each other.

Design

Wagner 915
It wouldn’t be any good if a steam cleaner leaked water all over the place while it was on, would it? Thanks to good craftsmanship and high-grade durable materials, this doesn’t seem to be the case with this model. Although it does not look as good as some other steam cleaners out there, Wagner promises no leaks and a long serving life.

Two well-oiled, big wheels at the back improve the mobility of the cleaner, making whole-room cleaning as easy as putting on your socks in the morning.

McCulloch MC1375
If you examine the McCulloch closely enough, you will notice the pride with which it was assembled. The plastic is high quality; the build -sturdy; and the rotary switches – pleasurably well oiled and smooth. Two big and serrated back wheels significantly improve the mobility while the insulation is second to none, so you are unlikely to experience water leaks.

Verdict: Tie. Both steam cleaners are built with an easily discernable attention to detail from high-grade plastic. This improves the machines’ durability and prevents water leaks. Mobility is a defining feature for both models due to two large and serrated wheels at the back. If we have to decide which one is better though, the McCulloch would slightly come on top. It just looks better.

Power and Water Tank

Wagner 915
The Wagner has a 48-ounce tank which allows for up to 45 minutes uninterrupted steaming at the push of a button. The water heats up in about 15 minutes. It must be noted, however, that there is regrettably no water level indicator, so you have to use a timer to prevent the steamer from drying up completely.

As soon as the water hits the 135F mark, a red light comes on, letting you know that the heating element has begun making steam. When the temperature reaches 180-200F, a green light will flash, letting you know that the steam is available.

McCulloch MC1375
Up to forty-eight ounces of water is allowed on each fill with the McCulloch. Thanks to adjustable steam control, this allows for continuous steaming of up to 90 minutes – double that of the Wagner. Heating the water up from completely cold to steam takes about 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, this unit is not fitted with a warning system indicating when the water in the tank has reached a drastically low level, but you can ‘sense’ when this happens as the performance of the unit drops in such cases.

Verdict: McCulloch edges this thanks to its longer-running steaming time – double that of the Wagner – and quicker heating-up time. McCulloch also offers its users the freedom of adjusting the strength of the steam flow. Additionally, at 4 bars of pressure, the steam in both models penetrates deep into most textures, giving a rejuvenating new look and obliterating bacteria and viruses with a single go-over.

Versatility

Wagner 915
Earlier in the article, we mentioned something along the lines of ‘steam cleaners are mandatory for every household’. This is why: they come with a number of attachments that are designed to help you deep clean every nook and corner in your home.

The Wagner comes with all the main attachments. The large cleaning brush can be used to sweep and desensitize kitchen floors, driveway tiles, and wooden patios. The window/tile squeegee scarps dirt away with ease, while the jet nozzle attachment can be fitted with a brush for those places that are harder to reach.

McCulloch MC1375
With over 20 attachments available, McCulloch is in a league of its own. Grease and grime stuck on stovetops, ovens and difficult-to-reach places are left with no chance of survival due to a variety of angled and straight nozzles and brushes. Additionally, you have a scrapper which is perfect for taking off old wallpaper. The Large Mop Head is ideally suited for deep cleaning tiles, patios and wooden floors while the triangle brush takes care of nooks and corners. All this more gives the McCulloch unparalleled versatility.

Verdict: McCulloch wins, hands down. Although Wagner has a number of very useful attachments, the MC1375 comes with over 20 tools designed to cover every nook and flat surface in your home. Whether it’d be a laminate or wood floor, patios, tiles, ovens, car upholstery or furniture, these machines are equipped to do the job.

Wagner vs McCulloch: Conclusion

Take a good look at the dirty, worn-out, greasy bits in your home. Remember that image. Because this is the last time you are going to see them like that. With steam cleaners, deep cleaning at home will become a daily pleasure. BBQ grilles, bathroom tiles, all types of floor surfaces, ovens and stoves, garden tiles, cars and so much more will shine like new with a quick and easy daily clean with a steam cleaner.

When it comes to real quality, we have found that the McCulloch MC1375 and Wagner 915 tick all the boxes. The McCulloch is the better machine overall. It looks much better, supports longer continuous steaming and is more versatile. In terms of performance, however, the Wagner 0282014 915 is in the same weight category.

Overall, both models prove to be excellent choices for taking your cleaning arsenal to the next level.
