Lefant Robot Vacuum and Mop U180 Review

Do you know what’s better than a robotic vacuum cleaner? A robotic vacuum cleaner that mops, a.k.a. a hybrid bot. And do you know what the best kind of hybrid bots are? The ones that cost that do an excellent job navigating your floors while also costing a fraction of the cost of leading brand models.

Today, we’re looking at the affordable Lefant U180 Robot Vacuum Mop. Admittedly, the brand isn’t that well-known, but after reading this review, you’ll see that sometimes, the more obscure brands are worth noticing.

2200-Pa Max Suction Power

If you’ve been disappointed by the lackluster suction performance of old robot vacuum cleaner models, we’re happy to say that Lefant has changed all that. The U180 is a magnificent robot that delivers up to 2200 Pa of suction power on max power. Even by today’s standards, that’s quite a punch!

But please note that activating max power will drain the battery quicker. When you stick to standard cleaning mode, you’re looking at about 1500 Pa of suction power, which isn’t that far off from the industry average.

Mops and Vacuums Simultaneously

Earlier, we indicated that the U180 is a hybrid robot in that it can mop and vacuum. However, it offers a little extra something that you won’t find in many of the leading brands. This device can vacuum AND mop at the same time.

Why does that matter? Since it performs both tasks simultaneously, it doesn’t have to spend twice as much battery power returning to its original spot and going back over the floors with a moistened pad. Another benefit is that when the pad can pick up most, if not all, of the remaining specks of dust hidden in tile grout and between floorboards—places that the robot’s suction may not reach.

3 Water Output Levels

The main question we need to ask here is “how well does the U180 mop?” Granted, “mop” is a bit of a stretch. Like other hybrid bots out there, the U180 simply wipes your floors with a slightly moistened pad.

The main difference is that the U180 lets you control water flow and how saturated the pad gest. The wetter it is, the better it will be at cleaning in crevices and recesses on your floors. The U180 has a 500-mL tank, which requires refilling at different rates depending on which of the three water output levels you use.

150-Minute Runtime

The U180 doesn’t have the most impressive runtime out of all the hybrid bots out there, but two-and-a-half hours is definitely not something to scoff about. With a 150-minute runtime per charge, the U180 can clean over 1,500 square feet of smooth and carpeted floors per charge.

Sadly, this robot doesn’t come with auto resume. It’ll head straight to its charging station when the battery is low or its job is complete, but if you want to send it back to work after recharging, you’ll have to do it via the downloadable smartphone app.

Alexa and Assistant Support

Alternatively, if you have an Alexa or Assistant device at home, you can use either one to relay your voice commands directly to the robot. For instance, simply ask Alexa or Assistant to tell the robot to begin its cleaning cycle, and watch as it steps out of the charging base and does your bidding.

Based on user reports, syncing the U180 to a smart speaker can be a bit tricky, even when following the instruction manual. It’s not the quickest pairing robot out there, but when it does eventually sync, it makes controlling the bot a lot more convenient.

2nd-Generation FreeMove Technology

Lefant installed 2nd-generation FreeMove Technology in the U180. FreeMove Technology is a simple form of navigation software that allows Lefant’s robots to navigate your floors while predicting which areas of your home they’ll get stuck in. For instance, the UH180 knows it can’t travel beneath underneath spaces with less than 3.1 inches of vertical clearance, and it’ll avoid such areas at all costs.

Real-Time Mapping Capabilities

Something that FreeMove Technology doesn’t offer is mapping capabilities in the way that we’re used to when looking at modern-day robots. Instead, it has “real-time” mapping capabilities—it maps its immediate surroundings, keeps it in a short-term memory base, and when the job’s completed, it’ll erase the map from its memory.

Verdict: Missing Some Features, but Great for Its Cost

As you can see, the Lefant U180 Robot Vacuum is far from being the most feature-packed hybrid bot on the market. However, since it boasts an affordable price tag, shoppers shouldn’t expect it to have top-notch navigating and mapping capabilities. But considering everything the Lefant U180 does have, it definitely deserves more attention than it currently gets.
