iRobot Roomba i4+ (4552) Robot Vacuum Review

If you’re looking for a new robotic vacuum cleaner for your home, then the best place to start would be iRobot Roombas. iRobot is the leading manufacturer of robotic vacuum cleaners, and it’s not difficult at all to see why. When there’s a new feature in robotic vacuum technology, you can bet that the latest Roomba will have it.

10x Suction Power

One of the most prominent features that sets the i4+ apart from its Roomba brethren is improved suction power. Compared to its predecessors, the i4+ delivers up to ten times as much suction power, giving it the ability to remove dust from high-pile carpeting in as few as a single pass.

Much of the i4+’s amazing cleaning performance is due to the dual multi-surface rubber brushes that beat, loosen, and lift debris from carpets and bare floors.

Dirt Detect Technology

The i4+ doesn’t just vacuum old dirt from floors. It has an array of smart sensors that allow it to identify the locations of newly made stains, so if you or your pet accidentally pushed over a vase within the i4+’s vicinity, it’ll automatically stop what it’s doing and head to the dirtiest spots on your floors.

This doesn’t affect the navigation system whatsoever, though it can increase the amount of time needed to clean entire floors.

Cutting-Edge Tracking and Mapping Sensors

Like other i-series Roombas, the i4+ comes with high-tech tracking and mapping sensors, which it uses to scan your home to create a digital map. It automatically distinguishes between carpeted and smooth floors, identifying which areas it needs to crank its suction power to max and where it can make do on Low Power mode.

Upgraded App and Voice Support

Thanks to the i4+’s amazing tracking and mapping sensors, it creates a highly accurate digital representation of your floors that you can access via the new and improved iRobot Home app. This app allows you to define specific rooms and areas of your home to make selective room cleaning a breeze. Best of all, you can send voice prompts to the i4+ via an Alexa or Assistant device to command the robot where to clean and when.

Cleans Around Your Life

Another highly advanced feature that sets the i4+ apart from other robotic vacuum cleaners, including other Roombas, is how it adapts to your lifestyle. The i4+ keeps track of when you run its vacuuming cycle, how often you run it, and which areas of your home you prioritize vacuuming in. After collecting information, the i4+ will automatically create a cleaning schedule based on whatever patterns it identifies.

In addition, the Roomba i4+ can suggest cleaning cycles during certain allergy seasons. For instance, it’ll suggest more vacuuming cycles during the spring and during pet shedding season.

Tag-Team Duo with the Braava Jet m6

Just so you know, the i4+ is not a hybrid robot. It doesn’t come with a mopping function like most modern robots. However, it works together with the Braava Jet m6, iRobot’s mop-only robot. If you have both the i4+ and the m6 (sold separately) at home, they can work together to vacuum and clean your floors. They’ll “tag” each other out after one of them has completed its cleaning cycle.

High-Efficiency Filter

iRobot claims that the i4+ is a pet-friendly robotic vacuum cleaner. Not only does it provide an astounding amount of suction power, but it also comes fitted with a high-efficiency filter that traps most microscopic particles from exiting the robot’s exhaust. Basically, everything the robot suctions up stays inside of the dustbin until it’s emptied.

Self-Emptying Base

Speaking of emptying the i4+, this robotic vacuum cleaner comes with a floor charging station that doubles as a vacuum cleaner. When the i4+ docks to recharge and await new orders, the self-emptying base will suction all of the debris from the i4+’s dustbin, leaving it completely empty and ready for round two.

The self-emptying base can store up to 60 days’ worth of debris before needing a bag replacement (additional Dirt Disposal Bags sold separately).
