The robot vacuum is easy to start as all of its controls are located on the robot, and it can clean any floor from laminate to carpet with its triple-brush configuration. Thanks to its rubber wheels, you never have to worry about the robot damaging delicate or expensive flooring.

The vacuum is also a champ at moving from one floor to the next. Plus, it’s equipped with iRobot’s Dirt Detect technology, which enhances the vacuum’s cleaning power when it comes across extra messy areas.

Inside of the robotic vacuum, there is a powerful lithium-ion battery that offers a long working time, and the robot even charges itself without your assistance.

The filter is well-adept at trapping fine particles like dust, and the dirt bin is see-through for your convenience. If you encounter any issues with the Roomba 614, the robot and the battery are covered by separate warranties.

One-of-a-Kind Brushroll System

Although this robotvac is a basic model, iRobot didn’t skimp on the features that matter the most, which are the ones collectively responsible for its outstanding cleaning power. The Roomba 614 operates on a three-stage system that includes strong suction from a wide inlet in addition to two brush rolls and one side brush.

The larger brushroll is affixed with stiff bristles while the smaller one is soft and flexible. These two brushrolls spin toward each other, lifting cereal, dirt, fur, popcorn and other debris from your floors. For flawless edge and corner cleaning, the side brush sits at a 27-degree angle, sweeping dust and dirt into the inlet.

While the side brush is durable, it does need to be replaced every once in a while, which is common for any robot vacuum. To do so, simply unscrew the old brush and screw in the new brush. On the other hand, the brushrolls are easy to remove when you need to clean them. All you have to do is lift the release tabs.

Advanced Features

Again, iRobot doesn’t believe in producing bare-bones robotic vacuum cleaners. Therefore, the company included a few advanced features to ensure the 614 doesn’t miss a speck of dirt. First, there is the floor head, which is programmed to raise and lower its height to suit the carpet or bare floor it’s cleaning for smooth surface-to-surface transitions.

With this robot vacuum, you also get the benefit of iRobot’s Dirt Detect technology. As the vacuum makes its way through your house, the robot kicks up the suction power when it encounters a small pile of debris or a place that sees a lot of foot traffic. When Dirt Detect is activated, an indicator light on the robot will illuminate.

Precise Navigation

Objects and stairs are no dangers for the Roomba 614. This robot vacuum boasts iRobot’s iAdapt Navigation. This navigation system is made of intelligent software and highly responsive sensors. When combined, the iAdapt allows the robot to dodge people and furniture, and it prevents the vacuum cleaner from tumbling down the stairs. To keep the navigation system in working order, wipe away any accumulated dust on occasion.

The robot is sized for nimble yet sturdy movement. Weighing 7.5 pounds and sitting atop a pair of anti-rugged wheels with anti-scratch tread, you’ll never see the vacuum wobble as it rolls across uneven surfaces and thresholds. At a width of 13.4 inches and a height of 3.6 inches, the Roomba 614 can traverse under and around most of the furniture in your home.

Powered by Lithium-Ion

The working time provided by the battery is another area where this robotic vacuum really shines. Due to the inclusion of a lithium-ion battery, the Roomba 614 can chug along for an hour or longer, depending on how often Dirt Detect activates.

Plus, it doesn’t take long for the battery to recharge at 3 hours or less.

Even better, you don’t have to be anywhere near the 614 when it’s time to replenish the battery. Once the battery level reaches a certain point, the robot’s room confinement sensor makes contact with the charger’s RCON sensor.

At that point, the robot drives to the charger and self-docks. An on-board indicator light tells you when the battery is fully charged, so you can start a new cleaning cycle if necessary. To protect your investment, iRobot offers a 1-year warranty on both the robot and the battery.

User-Friendly Controls

In a hurry? The Roomba 614 is quick and easy to control. All three labeled functions are accessible via the panel on the robot. Push the clean button to begin a new vacuuming session or select spot to take care of a dry spill.

Although the 614 auto docks to the charger, you can manually send it there by pressing the dock button.

Fine Dust Filtration

Any decent vacuum cleaner has a filtration system, and the Roomba 614 is no exception. Located inside of the transparent dirt bin, you’ll find an AeroVac filter. This small-particle filter is fashioned from cloth, and it’s protected by a plastic vented cover.

To care for the filter and make it last several months, give the filter a rinse with water once per week. To reach the bin and the filter, push the release button, and the bin will pop out of the vacuum cleaner’s side.
