The Holy Trinity

The unique selling point of the NES215A Blaze is its ‘three-in-one’ design. This means that it can be broken apart or extended according to your needs. The core of the vacuum is a small, handheld ‘dustbuster’. Attach a floor head and it becomes what Eureka refer to as a “stair cleaner”: then add a handle and it becomes a “stick vac” (in other words, a traditional vacuum cleaner).

This design offers a lot of flexibility. It’s particularly useful that Eureka have included the stair cleaner as a separate option. True, the stair mode is really just the body of the cleaner with the floor head attached to the end – but that makes a big difference.

It allows you to get those stairs neat and tidy without breaking your back bending down with the dustbuster, or lugging an unwieldy stick vacuum up each step.

A wide sweep

Eureka have included a feature in this model that they like to call a “capture nozzle”. Now, someone at Eureka seems to have enjoyed themselves coming up with new terminology for this product: so what, exactly, is a capture nozzle?

Well, it’s essentially just the floor head that you put on in stair or stick mode – the thing you find on the end of any vacuum cleaner – but with a wider entry gate than is typical for a device of this size.

This wider gate is both good and bad. Its width means it has a greater inward airflow, and this makes it outperform its competitors when it comes to pulling in hard debris. In fact, the NES215A Blaze can even draw in larger grains like sand, which is a better level of performance than one might expect with a machine of its size.

However, the wide gate means that while the airflow is significant, it is less concentrated. This can be a problem when it comes to crevices: the Eureka will not pull up dirt that has fallen between, for example, the clefts between bathroom tiles as successfully as some other similar devices.

Bust that dust

Probably the setting in which the NES215A is in its element is its ‘dustbuster’ setting – when the floor piece is off and you’ve picked it up by the handle. After all, despite its ability to act as a stick vacuum, it’s not really designed to compete with larger vacuum cleaners – it sits in the lightweight, low-budget end of the marketplace. And as a small handheld device, it’s impressive.

Without its stick or floor head, it has a sleek, futuristic look to it. It has a better airflow than the majority of equivalent models, and at only 4lbs, it’s not at all heavy on the arm – you can spend as long as you need drawing the dust from the furniture without tiring out.

Best for small spaces

The Eureka NES215A Blaze is probably most suited for those who only have small areas that they need to maintain. Students living in dorm rooms, for example, will find this machine perfect: throw it in the car when you drive off to college, store it in the corner of a cupboard somewhere, and you’ll be able to keep your room nice and clear of dust and dirt throughout the semester. Those living in smaller apartments will enjoy the product too, but anyone with a larger living area may find that they need a more heavy-duty vacuum.

Many users have also found that the NES215A Blaze is suitable for cleaning up the car. Has your toddler been eating cereal in the back and now there are Fruit Loops everywhere? The Eureka is a convenient way to get that clear. If you’re trying to reach the garage, though, remember that the power cord is only 18 feet long.

Easy to store

Not only is the NES215A Blaze good for small spaces, it also fits into a very small space. Lean it up against the wall in the cupboard next to your broom and your mop – it really won’t use much more room than either of those accessories.

The NES215A is a good, flexible vacuum cleaner with strong performance for its size. For those who only need to keep small areas clean, it’s highly recommended!
