Eureka Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner NEC101 Review

Eureka is well-known for creating reliable vacuum cleaners of all types. Today, we’re going to look at one of the company’s cordless vacuum cleaners, the Eureka NEC101—a convertible tool with powerful suction, and a decent runtime. Read our review of the NEC101 and see whether this budget-friendly stick vacuum is the right choice for you.

2 Power Modes

The NEC101 might look like any ordinary cordless vacuum cleaner out there, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. First, it sports a heavy-duty 150W motor that suctions air at high speeds, making it a highly efficient stick vacuum for bare floors.

It also has two cleaning modes—Low and High—which you can select shift between using the fingertip controls.

However, some users found that even on High Mode, the NEC101 can occasionally fail to pick up embedded debris in carpet fibers. While it’s possible, it’ll take several passes to get the job done, so stick to cleaning bare floors with this stick vac instead.

Lightweight Design

Eureka markets the NEC101 as an efficient cleaning tool, and judging by the less-than-5-pound weight, that’s definitely a statement we can get behind.

Even on a half-full dustbin, lifting the NEC101 up to clean above-floor surfaces isn’t a challenge at all. Plus, you have the benefit of the tool being cordless, so you won’t need to wrestle with long wires to clean hard-to-reach areas.

9.8-Inch-Wide, LED-Studded Floorhead

You’ll find the NEC101’s floorhead to measure almost 10 inches from side to side, which is narrow enough to maneuver easily around furniture legs and other obstacles while also being sufficiently wide to clean spacious floors in just a low number of passes.

The floorhead comes with multiple bright LEDs to shine a piercingly bright light on your floors, exposing dust bunnies residing underneath furniture.

Easy-Empty Dust Cup

When it comes time to empty the dust cup, don’t worry about having to fish pet hair out of the cup with your bare hands. The inner wall of the dust cup is lined with a slippery filament that causes dust and debris to fall from the dust cup with the slightest nudge.

A simple push of a button is all it takes to pop the dust cup out. You should hear a clicking noise when reinserting the dust cup, letting you know that it’s ready to store more floor pollutants.

Up to 30 Minutes of Cleaning per Charge

In terms of runtime, there’s nothing too spectacular about the NEC101. A fully charged battery can supply up to 30 minutes of cleaning per charge on its lower setting.

If you kick it to high gear, it’ll drain the battery more than twice as fast, so only use the higher power mode when cleaning carpets.

Convertible Handheld Unit with Crevice Tool

The NEC101 is one of the most basic convertible vacuums we’ve ever seen.

To convert it from stick to handheld mode, just detach the extension wand, and insert either the floorhead or the included crevice into the cleaning-tool port. It doesn’t come with other tools, so you’re stuck with just those two.

Verdict: A Low-Cost Cordless Vacuum for Hard Floors!

While the Eureka NEC101 is not a premium-quality cordless vacuum by any standard, it’s an excellent option for those with more hard floors than carpets. The lightweight build, dual cleaning models, and easy maintenance make this low-cost stick vac a great tool to have for light-duty cleaning around homes.
