Anyone who’s ever tried cleaning a hardwood floor or tiled floor will tell you how big of a challenge it is. Without a buffer, you’re going to need to put in extra elbow grease to get that floor buffed and shined.
Floor buffers don’t only clean your floors, but they also wax them and make them slippery so you can record people’s hilarious visits to the floor (just kidding).

Introduction to Viper Cleaning Equipment
There are several types of buffers out there: smaller ones for personal use; and larger, heavy duty ones for commercial cleaning companies. Whatever size you’re looking for, Viper has some pretty excellent buffers to choose from.
Viper Cleaning Equipment produces floor-care products for use in both large and small buildings. You probably can’t tell from the 1990’s-look of their online store, but Viper makes three pretty decent floor buffers.
If you need a large unit for getting more cleaning contracts or smaller units for personal use at home, then consider going with Viper. Let’s take a look at three of their floor buffers.
Viper Cleaning Equipment DR2000DC
To start things off, let’s take a look at the only commercially-used floor buffer on this list. The Viper DR2000DC has a 20-inch deck for wide buffering, and the burnishing tool spins at up to 2,000 RPM to give your floors that polished look we all love.
This unit stands 4-feet tall so anybody except NBA players can use this device comfortably. This Viper model only weight 90 lbs, and you won’t be carrying it most of the time so you won’t hurt your back. Taking the buffer around large facilities is extremely comfortable and you’ll most likely not have to double back to rebuff the floor behind you.
In addition, this unit comes with a 50-inch cable, meaning that you’ll do less unplugging and re-plugging. The length of this cable adequately supports cleaning large areas, so commercial cleaning businesses could definitely benefit from the DR2000DC by Viper. However, nobody will fault you if you decide to take this beast for a spin onto the kitchen floor of your home.
All of the controls are literally at your fingertips with this unit. The start and speed-changing buttons are conveniently placed onto the handle for easy control. In addition, the handle is foldable, so when it’s time to pack up you won’t have to worry about being a Tetris expert to get the unit comfortably onto your truck.
Finally, this unit comes with free floor pads and an LED pressure indicator for determining how much pressure you’re putting onto the floor. Different surfaces and materials require different pressures for optimal cleaning so you’ll be thankful that the pressure gauge is there.
- Easy-to-use, fingertip controls
- Passive dust-control with cloth collector bag for easy cleaning
Viper Cleaning Equipment VN2015
The next floor buffer by Viper is their VN2015 model. This one is smaller and less powerful than the previous model, but that just means that it’s supposed to be used in our homes and not large facilities by professionals. If this is your first time buffing a floor, you won’t want to use a 2,000 RPM beast that’ll most pull you under.
Although the deck (20-inches) and the pad (19-inches) are the same sizes as the commercial unit discussed above, the low 175 RPM is what makes this a tool for cleaning the delicate floor in your home. 175 RPM is enough to get hardwood or tiled floors properly buffed while making certain that you don’t buff past any protective finishing.
This unit does not have a pressure indicator so new users will probably go through a trial-and-error phase before operating it properly. Additional pads used for stripping solid stains off of floors need to be purchased separately since this is just a regular sweep-and-buff machine.
This model also comes with a 50-foot cable which can seem like overkill for buffing our home floors, but you’ll be glad that the cable is that long. Similar to vacuum cleaners, you don’t want to have to constantly bend down to unplug and re-plug the device to clean multiple rooms.
Overall, this is a pretty neat floor buffer with features for adequate house cleaning. You won’t need anything past 500 RPM for home-use unless you have durable marble floors, but even then 175 RPM can be enough.
Viper Cleaning Equipment VN1715
The final floor buffer on this list is the VN1715 model by Viper. This is also a home-use floor buffer so janitors of large facilities will find it extremely inefficient. However, at home, this 175 RPM-buffer is perfect since it won’t strip your wood or tiled floors with unnecessary power.
The deck and buff pads for this unit are only 17-inches so you’ll have to do more work to clean large spaces. However, it’s not that much of a difference, especially for personal use, so there’s hardly any sacrifice in time efficiency between the VN2015 and this model.
Surprisingly, despite its smaller deck size and similar height to the VN2015, these two units weight exactly the same. However, seeing as how this model is half the price of the VN2015, you are definitely getting more value out of this one.
Despite the similar feel and appearance between the VN2015 and this smaller version, there are several things that customers have complained about. First of all, the packaging can be an issue since customers received their buffers with dents.
Next, this model doesn’t work nearly as well as advertised according to some users.
You’ll have to put extra pressure to get this buffer to properly shine your floors. There’s no pressure gauge so you’ll have to go through a long trial-and-error process onto your precious floor.
Fortunately, the company’s excellent customer service reps are always available to help with whatever issues you have, and the 2-year warranty protects you from being stuck with a damaged product.
- Easy-to-use, fingertip controls
- Motor-mounted pad driver storage
Conclusion
This marks the end of our review of Viper’s floor buffers. The first two models (DR2000DC and VN2015) work extremely well and have been given great reviews. Meanwhile, the VN1715 model doesn’t quite match the previous models in terms of performance.
Only time can tell whether Viper will continue to manufacture superior floor buffers or whether they’ll focus on their other floor-care products. If there’s anything you should take away from this review, it’s this: the DR2000DC model is an excellent commercial-size floor buffer and should be used more often by cleaning companies.
