Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review
You probably know the brand name Xiaomi from its smartphone and other mobile devices. But did you know they also manufacture robotic vacuum cleaners? The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is one of their latest models.
Xiaomi Mi Features
The Xiaomi Mi Robotic Vacuum is a high-end model, having most of the features and functions the well-known robot vacuum brands iRobot (Roomba) and Neato has as well. This Mi model, on the other side, you can buy for a much more affordable price. The vacuum does well on both hard floors as rugs and carpet. It picks up (pet) hair without any problems in the most hard-to-reach places. During the initial run, the Xiaomi Mi will map the floor plan of your home, so it will run much more conveniently every time it has to clean your floors again.
You can also download and use a mobile app to monitor and control your Xiaomi Mi. While we are writing this review the application was entirely in Chinese (Edit. It seems you can switch the language now). One of the cool features of the app is that when the robot vacuum gets stuck somewhere (rarely happen though) you will get a notification on your phone, together with an image of the issue. This is a pretty cool and nifty feature and you know right away what is going on, no matter what language switch the app has.
Design and Functionality
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum cleaner has a futuristic look to it. When owning pets, like cats and dogs, you will be amazed how much of a lifesaver this “smart” device can be. Before, you had to constantly clean the floors to be able to get rid of the dog/cat hair, especially when your furry friends she’d a lot. The Xiaomi Mi Robotic Vacuum can take over these daily sweepings.
Besides the positive aspects of this device, it also has some drawbacks. It sometimes has difficulties with the transition from hardwood to rugs/carpet, especially when the rug/carpet is made of mid to high pile fibers. The Xiaomi Mi struggles to get on and off the rugs and it will end in poor cleaning around the rugs. On a flat surface, it does a great job getting rid of the sand and dirt. It also occasionally gets lost when it has to clean the floors of a larger home. The mobile app will tell you exactly what is going on sending you a push notification.

Pros and Cons
– Powerful clean
– Great, long lasting battery.
– Futuristic sleek design
– User-friendly mobile app
– Not the best robotic vacuum cleaner for rugs/carpets.
– The Xiaomi Mi is slightly higher than the average robot vacuum cleaners, meaning it won’t get under all furniture.
If you are looking for a robotic vacuum cleaner to completely replace your traditional vacuum then the Xiaomi Mi is not the product you want to buy. But to be honest, here, there isn’t a robot vacuum cleaner that can accomplish that task “yet”. This unit does, however, work well for those daily cleanups and you can schedule your Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum to do so. It goes well under furniture and beds and will even clean at those place you normally won’t get with your traditional vacuum.
