Levoit LV-H132 vs PureZone 3-in-1 Air Purifiers

They are young, inventive and even based out of the same state. Levoit and Pure Enrichment are also known for making quality products that foster healthy, wholesome living, such as humidifiers and air purifiers.

Levoit LV-H132 vs PureZone 3-in-1 Air Purifiers

In 2010, Pure Enrichment was founded in Santa Ana, California. Although Pure Enrichment has fewer than 10 years under its belt, this health-and-wellness company has managed to pull in over $3 million in annual revenue, making more established companies in the industry sit up and take notice.

One year later, another health-and-wellness company was established. As one of four sub-groups that belong to Etekcity, Levoit has a strong presence in multiple markets, including China, Germany, and the United States, specifically Anaheim, California.

Since Levoit and Pure Enrichment are direct competitors, we thought it would be interesting to take an in-depth look at both companies in the scope of air purification. Therefore, we chose to review the Levoit LV-H132 Air Purifier and the Pure Enrichment PureZone 3-in-1 True HEPA Air Purifier, both of which are two of the most popular air purifiers on the market.

What Does HEPA Mean?

High-efficiency particulate air, or HEPA, is a name given to filters that are able to trap 99.97 percent of particles as tiny as 0.3 microns, which is a unit of measurement used to determine the size of particles. HEPA filters are found in air purifiers, vacuum cleaners, and other appliances to prevent bacteria, mold and allergens from entering the air. Some manufacturers use HEPA-type or HEPA-style filters, but these filters do not have the same particle-capturing power as true-HEPA or genuine-HEPA filters.

The Levoit LV-H132 Versus the Pure Enrichment PureZone 3-in-1 Air Purifier

If you need air purification for a small area, the Levoit Compact HEPA and the PureZone 3-in-1 are perfect for the job. These two air purifiers contain three types of high-quality filters, which trap harmful airborne contaminants and eliminate the bad odors that come along with them. Plus, the PureZone air purifier contains an ultraviolet-C bulb that obliterates bacteria and viruses.

Each lightweight purifier is able to circulate indoor air with a powerful yet quiet fan that you can set to one of several speeds. Even on their highest fan speed, these air purification machines do not require a ton of electricity, saving you money all year long. Other features you’ll appreciate are the Levoit’s adjustable nightlight and the PureZone’s auto-off timer.

Size and Placement

With their white, glossy finishes, both of these air purifiers look great in any home or work setting. The 14.6-inch-tall cylindrical purifier by Levoit is designed for personal use and placement in extra-small areas up to 86.1 square feet, like half-bathrooms and workplace cubicles. Measuring 9.8 inches in diameter, the 6.5-pound purifier doesn’t take up much room on a desk or a table.

Although the PureZone 3-in-1 purifier is also small at 12.1 inches tall, 10.8 inches long and 6.9 inches wide, it can circulate all the air in a space as large as 200 square feet. Therefore, it’s suitable for use in small bedrooms and home offices. To make carrying the 8.45-pound air purifier easy, Pure Enrichment equipped with it two recessed handles on the sides of the machine.

Filters

As you would expect from a premium air purifier, the Levoit LV-H132 Air Purifier and the Pure Enrichment PureZone 3-in-1 contain a true-HEPA filter, which captures almost every microscopic particle in the surrounding air. For whole-room odor control, both purifiers have an activated carbon filter that adsorbs the particles responsible for bad smells. In addition, each machine has a pre-filter that prevents large particles from clogging the main HEPA filter.

Generally, the air purifiers’ filters last for about 6 months, so you won’t have to deal with the hassle and expense of monthly replacements. When it’s time to change them, both machines have a filter change indicator that will illuminate. Accessing these filters is a breeze no matter the purifier you choose. On the Levoit, you just turn and remove the bottom cap. On the PureZone, simply pull off the back cover and pop out the filters.

Extras

Extra features are always appreciated, and they give an appliance some distinction among its competitors. The Levoit Compact HEPA Air Purifier has a blue nightlight located on its top. By pressing the corresponding touch button on the perimeter of the top, you can make the light’s brightness low or high. If you’re light sensitive, you have the option of turning off the nightlight altogether.

The PureZone 3-in-1 True HEPA Air Purifier offers not one but two useful features. This purification machine contains an ultraviolet-C light. Emitting a germicidal wavelength of 254 nanometers, the UV-C bulb has a lifespan of 20,000 hours, which equates to about 2 years and 3 months of non-stop use. The other special feature integrated into this air purifier is an auto shut-off timer, which you can set to 2 hours, 4 hours and 8 hours.

Fan and Efficiency

Within both air purifiers, there is a variable-speed fan that pulls in dirty air and pushes out clean air. From each purifier’s control panel, you can change the fan speed to one of three levels. Besides the fans adjustable design, they are also energy-friendly with the Levoit consuming 28 watts and the PureZone drawing 60 watts.

Plus, the Levoit and the PureZone are quiet. The air purifier by Levoit generates a maximum of 50 decibels, and the purifier by Pure Enrichment produces anywhere from 30 to 50 decibels depending on the fan speed. Due to their effective filters, powerful fans and sizeable grilles, the Levoit model has an average clean air delivery rate of 40 cubic feet per minute while the PureZone’s average CADR is twice as much.

Two Worthwhile Buys

Whether you prefer the Levoit LV-H132 Air Purifier or the Pure Enrichment PureZone 3-in-1, you won’t be disappointed. At first glance, the high sheen and on the Levoit and the machine’s shape catches your eye; however, the built-in carrying handles on the PureZone make you appreciate its practicality.

Looking below the surface, both machines meet the requirements of a reliable, efficient air purifier. They contain a true-HEPA filter along with a pre-filter and a carbon filter. Both purifiers are equipped with a three-speed fan, which spins quietly and unobtrusively.

However, each one has unique features to offer. The Levoit’s nightlight is soothing, and the two brightness settings allow you to customize its illumination. The PureZone’s UV-C bulb provides additional protection against bacteria, viruses, and mold. Plus, the machine’s timer is handy when you don’t want the air purifier to run continuously. Overall, these two air purifiers offer a lot of value at an affordable price.

Air Recommended Air Purifiers

Our Pick Perfect for bedrooms, playrooms, and living rooms, the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH is one of the best-performing, most durable, and most economical purifiers we’ve tested.

Most Popular The Levoit Core 300 air purifier has some strong suits, but in our opinion it falls short of carving out a meaningful niche for itself. Its ideal use would be in a small bedroom occupied by someone who is sensitive to noise.

Also Great With high end air cleaning performance and a whisper quiet fan, the Winix 5500-2 is the perfect combination of power and finesse. It cleared airborne particulates out of our smokey testing room faster than any other model.

Best of the Best If you have a large space you want to remove irritants from, We recommend the Airmega 400S. All of Coway air purifiers do an excellent job of attacking indoor pollutants, and we highly recommend any of them. The 400S is designed to accommodate large room sizes.
