ILIFE A6 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner Review

ILIFE has been in the business of creating robotic vacuums with their first robotic vacuum, the V1, unveiled years ago. Each model adds on to the previous models’ features, and ILIFE has consistently been a stark improvement over the company’s previous generation. ILIFE has maintained their incredibly successful pocket-friendly robot vacuum line, with the latest in the A series, the ILIFE A6 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner. The ILIFE A6 is the successor to the popular A-series predecessor—the A4 and 4S and has a sleek piano-black look making it a robotic beauty. Stick around as we look at ILIFE’s refreshing cyclone and brush designed robotic vacuum—ILIFE A6 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner review.

ILIFE A6 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Piano Black Review

Bladeway Spiral Blade–Rubberized Brush Design

One of the most significant design changes we’ve seen with the A6 is the rubberized design on the brush which typically was a bristled brush. ILIFE calls this the Bladeway Spiral Blade, and it also has a motor upgrade, so carpets and rugs will not be a problem.

Very Slim and zero long-hair tangling

Additionally, the rubberized design also minimises the entanglement of long hairs, but we didn’t find this to be a major problem. What’s more, the miniaturised R2D2 is very slim measuring in at 12.2-inch diameter and 2.8 inches height wise. That’s approximately 0.2 inches thinner than its predecessor—the A4, and it also means it can easily get under a lot of furniture.

Virtual Wall – perfect for large homes

The virtual wall is not added to the ILIFE A4, and it’s an upgraded edition of the recent ILIFE model like the X5. All you need to do is set it across your doorway, and as the robot passes the door, it encounters an artificial infrared beam that it perceives as a virtual wall and it won’t go through it. As great as it sounds, we didn’t find much use for it with a child in the house—toys are everywhere.

160 minutes of battery life

With that being said, if you have an extensive house then it might just work for you. Moving on to the battery which also happens to be the largest yet. The A6 will give you a solid 160 minutes of grind time before you need to recharge it.

Larger battery and dust box

But that’s not all, it has an equally bulky dust box, but its actual specifications haven’t been released so we can’t objectively say it’s larger than the A4. If you’ve got a large house, then you can see the appeal of having a larger dust box and battery.

Easily transition onto thick rugs

ILIFE also made it easier to empty the dust box by including a magnetic latch system. Additionally, they were considerate enough to answer our plea for a robotic vacuum that can easily transition to thick rugs instead of getting stuck as typical robot vacuums do.

Handle rugs seamlessly

To allow for a smooth, thick rug transition, they included a set of large spring-loaded wheels which handle rugs seamlessly. Honestly, not allot has changed when it comes to user experience in the all their generation models, which means it’s pretty easy to use. There is a button on top of your robot that allows for you to activate its cleaning duties and you also get an infrared remote control.

Scheduled cleaning time and basic, spot and edge cleaning modes.

The remote control features a digital display which shows the current clock and a scheduled cleaning time. That’s not all; it comes with buttons to initiate cleaning modes from the edge, spot and basic clean.

For when you feel lazy

And now, the most important reason I love it. You ever get one of those days you’re feeling lazy? Well, you can simply direct the ILIFE A6 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner to a single area via its directional keys, all you have to do is drive it there. No wi-fi or smart home connectivity, but. Like every robotic vacuum in the ILIFE series, you won’t be getting wi-fi connectivity or have the robot integrated with your smart home.

You can control it from your phone with IFTTT

Having said that, with a bit ingenuity you could connect a DIY IR gateway that links to IFTTT and is able to initiate cleaning from your phone when you’re out of the house. What’s more, it automatically returns to its charging station when its battery is low. But to be more specific, it’ll switch to a power saving mode and cut its suction then wander around aimlessly until it’s close to the dock, at which point a sensor will bring it home. I know some of you are worried that its haphazard, random movement might get it stuck. And rightly so, but rest assured it will rarely get stuck or run of out of power. It typically goes off and does its thing—return home, and all you need to do is empty it out.
