1200-PA Suction

Despite being a fairly recent model, the OZMO 920 has a somewhat lackluster motor that delivers an okay-ish 1,200 Pa of suction power. For bare floors, this “much” suction power is decent and will remove most debris, large and small, in a single pass.

The great thing is that the OZMO 920 is equipped with carpet sensors that constantly detect what type of floor it’s walking on. When transitioning from hard to carpets, it’ll automatically go into high gear to deliver the 1,200-Pa suction needed to remove surface debris from low and medium-pile carpets.

OZMO Mopping System

But vacuum-cleaning isn’t the OZMO only focus. This compact robot doubles as both a vacuum and a mopping unit that wipes floors clean of debris the vacuum may have missed. Water poured into the 285-mL flows into the microfiber pad which it tows around to remove light spills and stains.

With the OZMO 920, you won’t have to chase after the robot with a sopping-wet mop—simply activate the feature whenever you want and enjoy thoroughly cleaned floors without lifting a bucket and mop.

Simultaneous Vacuuming and Mopping

Best of all, you won’t need to choose between which function you want the 920 OZMO to do, nor will you have to rely on two separate robots to work one after the other (we’re looking at you, iRobot s9 and Braava Jet m6!). With the microfiber pad in place, the OZMO 920 will kill two birds with one stone without requiring multiple full-battery charges.

2850-mAh Li-Ion Battery

While we’re on the subject of the battery, the OZMO 920 is sporting a medium-range 2,850-mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery. It provides enough power to vacuum and mop for up to 110 continuous minutes or cover 2,150 square feet of your home’s floors per charge.

As soon as the OZMO 920 has run out of juice, it’ll dive straight into its floor dock to refuel. By the time the battery has reached max capacity, the robot will undock and automatically pick up where it left off. This self-sufficient robot is practically a set-it-and-forget-it type model where the only hands-on maintenance is emptying the dust bin and refilling the water tank.

Intelligent Navigation

If everything we’ve said about the OZMO 920 hasn’t impressed you yet, perhaps this will. The OZMO 920 comes installed with Smart Navi 3.0, an upgraded version of previous Smart Navi tech that is better able to capture its surrounding and identify hazards and obstacles.

A sensor turret pops out of the top to scan your floors and create an interactive map which it uses to automatically identify the most battery-efficient cleaning path. The OZMO 920 can save up to three different maps for multi-floor cleaning without scanning its environment every single time.

“Tricky” Carpet Cleaning

Even though the lack of high-pressure suction can be a problem, this isn’t the worst thing customers have experienced with their OZMO 920. Many have claimed that their hybrid robot gets trapped on carpets or avoids carpets entirely.

The most likely causes, according to ECOVACS, is the color of the carpet (dark colors screw with its sensors) and hoping for the vacuum to clean with the water tank installed (it will avoid carpets entirely). Just a quick heads-up for those of you interested in getting this robot.

ECOVACS App

By using the ECOVACS App, operating the OZMO 920 will become a whole lot more convenient. The app covers the basics (scheduling, receiving reports, cleaning modes, and even manual steering), but with premium features like defining no-go zones and choosing which rooms to clean, you’ll hardly ever need to lay eyes on the robot at all.

Users will definitely want to make use of the no-go zone feature to prevent the OZMO 920 from mopping carpets. This robot also receives voice commands relayed through Alexa and Assistant.

In the end, the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO 920 is very impressive. Plus, using the myriad of smart features – such as using the map to choose where the robot vacuum goes – you have complete control over the vacuuming process, which makes things so much easier. Because of that, if you don’t mind shelling out some cash, this is an excellent robot vacuum to purchase.

Pros: Excellent vacuuming and mopping capabilities, extremely convenient, useful navigation system

Cons: Very expensive

Verdict: Should I Get the ECOVACS Deebot OZMO 920?

Considering what it can do, we feel that that the OZMO 920 is a real time-saver. Sure, its motor could be more powerful, but even so, it definitely works wonders at removing surface debris from short-pile carpeting. Plus, by attaching the mop tank and cloth, anything the suction misses on laminated surfaces will be picked up instantly by the microfiber pad.
