Eufy RoboVac 11c Pet Edition Review

About 20 years ago, Electrolux made history by introducing the Trilobite, the first-ever robotic vacuum cleaner. The Trilobite was more than capable of taking care of our vacuum cleaning tasks, based on our primitive notions of what we expected it to do.

However, the Trilobite would belong in the trash can when contrasted against what the market now has in store. The Roomba series by iRobot is arguably the most well-known line of robotic vacuum cleaners available, but it is by no means the only name in this growing industry.

Anker produces its own brand of automated disc-shaped cleaners called Eufy. It’s one of the newer entrants in the technology game, but they’re making their way up to the top to compete against the big dogs.

Since the company started manufacturing and distributing their robots in 2006, they’ve gradually gathered a sizable fan base and market share with their high-quality robot vacuum cleaners. Of their line of robots, one of the most impressive and hyped machines is their RoboVac 11c Pet Edition.

Design

The Eufy RoboVac 11c Pet Edition is in the traditional circular shape, but it comes with a tempered glass top which gives it a sleek, modernized look. It’s 13 inches wide and 3.1 inches tall, making it one of the smallest and shortest robot vacuums out there on the market.

The compact design makes it a suitable choice for cleaning tight spaces or small-sized apartments and homes, though, like any disc-shaped robot, it has trouble with vacuuming corners. On the bottom plate, the RoboVac 11c has multiple infrared sensors pointed towards the “nose” of the robot, a drop sensor, two side brushes, a central-rolling brush, and a swivel wheel for turning.

Performance

Due to the use of infrared sensors, Eufy doesn’t recommend using the device to vacuum dark floors or fuzzy carpets. The good thing is that it does an excellent job at suction-cleaning other surfaces like hardwood, vinyl, and short-haired gray carpets.

When it comes to suction performance, it will clean large and small pieces of debris with ease. Very rarely does it need to rerun surfaces to pick up any leftover traces of dust. However, the most unfortunate thing about this supposedly “pet edition” robot vacuum cleaner is that it doesn’t suction stray pet hair strands as well.

Against individual hair strands, it can do an adequate job, but the hair will begin to accumulate in the rolling brush. Sorry, pet owners, but you’ll need to put on a pair of gloves and unclog the machine manually before sending it off to work again.

The one thing we look for in robot vacuum cleaners is their convenience. The reason we purchase one of these robots is so that we don’t need to manually vacuum our floors and babysit the robotic janitors.

Sadly, the swivel wheel will oftentimes lose traction on smooth surfaces, triggering the alarm that it’s in mortal peril. Customers have complained that they had to poke it free from unseen obstacles, and sometimes the device would venture into and get stuck in areas where vacuuming isn’t needed (e.g. the bathroom).

Battery Power

Similar to other robotic cleaning devices on the market, the RoboVac 11c Pet Edition runs off of a single Li-Ion battery. The RoboVac 11c is used best for once-a-day cleaning tasks opposed to all-day-cleaning since it takes several hours for the battery to recharge. However, the good news is that it hunts dust and debris like no other machine does.

When compared to other budget-friendly robot vacuum cleaners, this one runs long on a single charge (up to 100 minutes). Another neat feature is that the unit detects its own remaining battery life and heads to its charging dock when it’s low on fuel.

EufyHome App

One understandable drawback is that this budget robotic cleaner doesn’t automatically resume work when its battery is full. It’s a good thing that this unit can connect to your home’s Wi-Fi and follow orders given to it via the EufyHome App. Through the app, you can configure weekly cleaning schedules, send the robot to its charging station with a tap on your phone screen, and send it off to vacuum your floors.

Eufy RoboVac 11c: Bottom Line

The Eufy RoboVac 11c Pet Edition is not the best robot vacuum cleaner on the market by far, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t fit your specific needs. The machine does an excellent job picking up fine particles like cat litter and larger pieces of debris such as cereal.

However, every pet owner knows that cats and dogs shed fur like crazy, and this is one of this RoboVac model’s major weaknesses. Still, for a budget robot, it does a proper job cleaning certain surfaces, and it’s superior battery power keeps the machine running so it’ll complete cleaning assignments on a single charge.
