Biota Bot Model #MM208 Air Purifier Review
When it comes to clean air, the Biota Bot MM208 means business. This comprehensive air-cleaning system offers seven air purification stages that consist of a pre-filter, HEPA filter, two types of carbon filters, ultraviolet sterilization, anion generation and a three-speed fan. Germs, volatile organic chemicals, dust, allergens, hair, mold, odors and other particles will practically cease to exist.
You can set a timer to dictate how long the air purifier runs, or you can choose auto mode, which allows the purifier to determine the correct fan speed and duration according to how poor the air quality is in your room. The indicator on top of the unit lights up to let you know when the filter needs to be replaced. There is even a sleep mode that runs on the lowest setting possible to purify the air and keep sound at a minimum.
Some air purifiers have a double filtration system that includes a pre-filter for trapping dust, hair and pet dander and a HEPA filter for catching microscopic allergens and germs. There are other purifiers that add an activated carbon filter to the mix, which eliminates formaldehyde, smoke smells and household odors from the air. However, it is rare to see an air purifier have all three of the aforementioned filters plus a granular carbon sieve for added odor absorption.
The Biota Bot MM208 has all four filters. These filters only need to be changed one or two times per year; the indicator light and noise will let you know when it’s time to put in new ones. In between replacements, a quick vacuuming of the pre-filter and HEPA filter keep the filtration system running smoothly.

Ultraviolet Light and Negative Ions
Another air-cleaning feature on this 13.5-pound air purifier is its optional-use UV sterilizing function, which is even utilized by some hospitals for its germ-killing capability. As microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and mold flow through the filtration system, the UV light breaks up their molecular structure, rendering them essentially inactive.
In addition, the air purifier contains a negative ion generator. This generator creates 10 million negative ions, or anions, per second to neutralize the positively charged particles that make up dust and bacteria.
From the sleek blue-lit digital panel with touch buttons, you have the choice of three fan speeds to push clean air out and draw dirty air into the purifier. Also, you can allow it to run for 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours or 8 hours. On the other hand, auto mode takes care of the fan speed and operating time for you, so you don’t do anything but breathe fresh, clean air. At night, set the air purifier to sleep mode for a quieter air-purification experience.
While you are choosing settings and the fan is working hard to purify the air, the machine is constantly monitoring the air quality. The circular light in the center of the panel turns blue for good air quality, purple for moderate air quality and red for bad air quality.
Biota Bot Model #MM208 Air Purifier: Setting the Bar High
If you could choose only one word to describe the Biota Bot MM208 Air Purifier, it would “impressive.” The seven-stage air-cleaning system is powerful enough to effectively cleanse the air in a room as large as 430 square feet. It has multiple fan speeds and a timer for purification customization. Four long-lasting filters block particles of all sizes from contaminating the air, and negative ions are produced at a rapid rate to lower the level of bacteria.
The purifier even integrates medical-grade UV-light technology to destroy harmful germs. Plus, it has an auto mode, so you can turn it on and let the machine do the work. Although there are many air purifiers manufactured by different companies, the MM208 is untouchable in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.
