Aquabot Elite Robotic Pool Cleaner Review

Aquabot boasts years of design and real-world testing across three different continents when it comes to the Aquabot Elite Robotic Pool Cleaner. The company shows off a compact, attractive robot that supposedly cleans quickly and effectively in most pools.

Introduction

At roughly 20″ x 20″ x 18″, the Elite Pool Cleaner is sleek and lightweight (weighing in at 39.6 lbs.) compared to other models. It comes with a storage and transport caddy to make moving and storing after use easy.

The company’s statements regarding the efficiency and output of their product have been challenged by unsatisfied customers. We’ll be taking a look at the ups and downs of this robot, and whether or not it may have a place in your life and in your pool.

The top-loading dual filtration system is rigged to make sure there is no mess to clean after removing the filter from the robot. Pulling out the filter won’t leave a pile of leaves on your porch or spilling back into the pool.

The highest customer reviews remark often on this filtration system, which is an upgrade from other products available on the market.

Efficient Design vs. Defective Design

The 360-degree swivel design of this model guarantees no tangling with the cables.

However, the biggest complaint from multiple customers is that this robot simply doesn’t move upon setup. Aquabot claims that customers will never receive refurbished bots; the state they arrive in, often with already beat up parts, juxtaposes this statement.

Some purchasers have returned their bot more than once upon noticing that it doesn’t function the way it should. Aesthetically the design does call to mind sophistication. The robot is sleek and won’t be an eyesore in the pool if it ever gets moving. The treads are pliable and made specifically to eliminate slipping on the pool surface.

How It (Is Supposed to) Work

The Elite has dual scrubbing brushes to remove stubborn algae and biofilm. This means that if you don’t get to cleaning the pool for a few days, it shouldn’t be a problem – the robot can handle tough jobs.

A third brush oscillates to pick up any tough spots that were left behind.

Putting Itself to Work

The addition of variable interval timers to these robots means that owners can set the bot to clean at 1, 1.5, or 2-hour increments every 2, 3, or 4 days. No matter how much use your pool gets, it’ll get the cleaning it needs.

Energy Saving

The Elite robot uses a pool mapping system to make sure any cleaning that gets done is energy efficient. It takes as few overlapping paths as possible and avoids any obstacles that would otherwise slow it down or stop the cleaning process.

Consistent Customer Complaints

Although Aquabot boasts that the Elite is one of the most advanced robotic pool cleaners on the market, customers across the board have been unsatisfied with the same consistent issues.

The wheels and rubber tracks made to function well in the water, come off and are not easily repaired. Although the filtration system is a favorite, the hinge on the door to this filtration system is flimsy and often breaks.

As for the actual cleaning – this has been inconsistent as well, with customers complaining that the robot cleans walls, stairs, and the waterline rarely if at all.

Perhaps the most frustrating complaint that has been met with resistance from Aquabot is that the robots purchased have been refurbished. Some models arrive so banged up or un-functional that purchasers are convinced old products being refurbished is the only possible explanation.

Who is it for?

Ideally, this bot is really for anyone – Aquabot hasn’t put restrictions on pool type or size. However, customers do mention that the bot doesn’t consistently climb walls and stairs, so if a thorough cleaning is your ideal, this might not be the appliance for you.

Last Words

The Elite robot, made for cleaning inground pools, doesn’t seem to live up to Aquabot’s statements. Although it comes with a three-year warranty, one would hope that it doesn’t actually need to be used. No matter how many times the company lets you return the product, the point is that you shouldn’t have to in the first place.

The Aquabot Elite may be more of a pain than it is worth. The staggering number of duds that come from the manufacturer doesn’t make the risk worth the potential outcome when there are more than enough products on the market that work well and have their praises sung by customers.
